Data Kicks Back With Kitty

Throughout the ages, from Keats to Giacomo, poets have composed odes to individuals who have had a profound effect upon their lives.

In keeping with that tradition, I have written my next poem in honor of my cat.
I call it, "Ode to Spot."

 -- Lieutenant Commander Data
Star Trek: TNG Season 6, Episode 5 "Schisms"

Data, our favorite android from Star Trek: The Next Generation, gazes hauntingly as he cradles his pet cat, Spot. It's a tender, conflicted moment, seemingly devoid of emotion when it might be the most loving display the lieutenant commander can muster.
Self-taught artist and Star Trek fan Jonathan England of Austin, Texas, has depicted the expression beautifully with acrylic paint on canvas. England describes his work as a whimsical blend of "Old World aristocratic portraiture and New World futurism to capture Data in his endeavor to become more human."
TNG aficionados will recognize the armchair from episodes where Data played the role of the intrepid Sherlock Holmes. Spot, one of the best examples of Data's effort to understand the human experience, rests calmly, unperturbed by the solitary ball of yarn that sits just out of reach.
QMx has taken England's painting and created an art print measuring 18 inches wide x 24 inches high. It's a museum-quality, plated-printed lithograph on 100-pound, aqueous-coated, satin-finish paper.
